Remaining Ukrainian is a memoir in which Bohdan Hawrylyshyn traces his journey from a boy in a small Carpathian village who walked five kilometers to school, and later a lumberjack in Canada, to a co-founder of the Davos Forum, the creator of Ukraine’s first business school, and an advisor to several Ukrainian presidents. His story unfolds against the backdrop of the turbulent events of the 20th century: World War II, the third wave of Ukrainian emigration, the postwar building of international institutions, economic globalization, and, in Ukraine, the Soviet-era crises, the struggle for independence, and, at last, the building of a new state.
