Ukrainian women are enduring both physical and mental suffering due to the war. Despite this, they continue to find the strength to adapt, support themselves and others, overcome new professional challenges, and become key drivers of socially responsible change in society. These findings were presented by Iryna Papusha, the event initiator and president of the Women Leaders For Ukraine community, during the Women Leaders for U Resilient Leadership Forum.
The forum featured three panel discussions, where participants explored topics such as the role of soft power in modern leadership, the development of resilience, and strategies to address the ongoing personnel crisis, which affects up to 75% of companies across various industries.
Myroslava Grozinska, Vice President of MIM Business School, highlighted the evolving gender dynamics in education. Over the past decade, there has been a noticeable shift in the number of women participating in MBA and SE MBA programs. While only two to three women were typically found in each class previously, the ratio of women to men is now nearing parity. "This trend began before the war, and in 2024, for the first time, women make up 40% of our class. This is a significant milestone, as women bring energy and emotion to group discussions, which enriches the learning experience. Additionally, the business landscape is shifting, with more people seeking corporate programs that focus on crisis management, risk management, and strategy," said Grozinska.
When the full-scale invasion began, it became evident that a more focused approach towards women was needed. In response, a new program was launched in June, specifically aimed at developing women’s leadership. Currently, 40 women are enrolled in the Women Leadership Program, which has no equivalent in Ukraine. The program, developed in partnership with IMD, one of Switzerland's top-rated business schools, includes lectures by professors from both MIM and IMD, as well as experts from the Thinkers 50 ranking. The program is designed for women in business, public service, and government sectors. "Given the high demand, I am confident we will soon launch a second intake," Grozinska added.
Another initiative inspired by the current war is a new program for young people. Recognizing the limited time young talent has to develop, MIM also offers university students the Pre-MBA Start program. This course helps students build business acumen and assess their ideas and projects from the perspective of investors, gaining insight into how the business world operates.
"We are teaching young people how to write business plans that can be immediately implemented. There has been a significant outflow of students this year, with a third of high school graduates opting to study abroad. I firmly believe we must create opportunities here in Ukraine to keep them from leaving. The future of our nation depends on it," Grozinska concluded.

At MIM, we decided to introduce a new perspective on business education: "Pre-MBA first, experience second." With this in mind, we created the<a href="https://mim.kyiv.ua/programs/pre-MBA_start"> Pre-MBA Start program</a>, designed specifically for high school graduates and students pursuing their first degrees.
Our goal is to equip young and creative Ukrainians with business tools that allow them to view their passions and projects through a business lens. A common challenge developers and inventors face when seeking investment is the inability to clearly identify their target market and demonstrate how they will sell their product. Brilliant ideas and innovations, which their creators are deeply passionate about, often go unfunded simply because they are not effectively pitched.
The Pre-MBA Start program complements the knowledge students gain in their primary fields of study by broadening their thinking through entrepreneurship and leadership frameworks. It focuses on building the ability to form teams, inspire others, and understand the financial, marketing, and management aspects of any project. This program is ideal for those who know what they want to do but need guidance on how to achieve it and for whom.

Join Your Business Program Now: MIM Launches Pre-MBA Start Program for University Students

At 35, both individuals and businesses reach a point of maturity, and for a business, this milestone reflects resilience. Over 100 alumni gathered to celebrate the 35th anniversary of MIM at their alma mater. In times of war and uncertainty, it’s comforting to have a sense of stability and to know that the things we hold dear still exist. You can touch them, feel them, and be present with them. This sentiment guided the celebration, which is why the MIM Business School premises was chosen as the venue.
Another important aspect of the event was supporting Ukraine's Armed Forces, who made this celebration possible. More than UAH 110,000 was raised for the aerial reconnaissance teams of the 411th Separate Battalion, Yastruby UAV. These funds will go toward purchasing a Shatro 3 vehicle-mounted dome radar.

<li>Yulia Sporysh, head of the NGO Girls, for her efforts in public education, challenging stereotypes about women's professional roles and fulfillment, and her willingness to support businesses in implementing corporate and social projects.</li>
<li> Artur Malinowski, Head of Global PR &amp; Communication at I’m Fine and BURNING MAN 2024, for sharing how a Ukrainian art project gained recognition at the world-famous festival in the United States, becoming a voice of cultural diplomacy in the process.</li>
<li>Kateryna Spivakova, two-time MIM alumna and Director of Communications and Government Relations at Kernel Agro-Industrial Holding, for her journey navigating the challenges of mined fields and broken ports, and for fostering hope and solutions for the future. Her story of "Minefields Honey," produced by Ukrainian bees in places sown with death, was particularly moving.</li>
<li>Iryna Ivanchyk, founder and director of the “Believe in Yourself” charity foundation, for her support of local businesses and her partnership with MIM on the "Course to Independence" project. Her stories, including that of the “Curly Farmer,” exemplified how the foundation has helped small entrepreneurs overcome challenges during the war.</li>

MIM Community Raises 110,000 UAH for EW during 35 Anniversary of the Business School Celebration

Reintegration Management Program

On September 13, the Reintegration Management Program group completed its five-month training with a touching graduation ceremony. Out of 105 selected participants, 99 were awarded their certificates, 94 of whom successfully completed the program and took an active part in the development and preparation of projects related to various aspects of public life in the Ukrainian territories after de-occupation.
It is symbolic that it was during the graduation that the news came: 49 prisoners returned to Ukraine from Russia, including Crimean Tatar Lenia Umerova. She was detained in December 2022 and illegally held first in Crimea, then in Russia in Lefortovo.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko, who also attended the opening of the program, came to summarize the results and congratulate the graduates.
“During our first meeting, we started the conversation with the fact that it is very important now, while our Armed Forces are doing everything possible for de-occupation, to prepare for how to build truly good governance. We are now closer to one of our dreams - joining the European Union. Ukraine has received a framework and started negotiations on all 32 chapters of European legislation. One of the areas of our commitments concerns public governance reform. Now, becoming better government officials is not only about personal development, but also a strategic task for the public administration. I am confident that together with you and with the help of such programs we will be able to build better public administration in the country,” said Oleksandr Kornienko.
The architecture and content of the program is something that MIM worked on in close cooperation with its partners—the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea. They helped to recruit for the program speakers-practitioners of public administration, current and former officials, and lawyers working to protect Ukrainians suffering from Russian aggression in the. Thanks to this cooperation, the participants were able to create a comprehensive program that, on the one hand, reveals the practical tools of a manager, and, on the other hand, is deeply saturated with contextual knowledge about where and in what conditions it will have to be used.
“On September 11, the fourth summit of the Crimean Platform took place, where one of the blocks was dedicated to reintegration. In fact, you are part of the reintegration we are talking about and working on. Because you will be the people on whom the state will rely on when it implements its reintegration policy. For us, it was a very big challenge to create a program together, to combine seemingly incompatible things from business, psychology, and public administration. And to unite people with different experiences. But we decided to do it, and I am grateful to the partners who responded to this initiative and made our plan possible,” said Olga Kuryshko, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea.
Benjamin Long, USAID/OTI Chief of Party, joined the graduation ceremony. It was with the support of the USAID Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI) project that the Reintegration Management Program was made possible.
“I am grateful to the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Mission of the President in the AR of Crimea for the support and opportunity to implement this program. It is an incredible joy for me to see so many young, motivated people who are ready to work for their country. Everyone who is here is a testament to the fact that Ukraine is a democratic country. It also shows how important good governance is to the Ukrainian system. I believe that everyone who has completed this course will be ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I am very happy and proud to be here. Thank you for your skills, motivation and willingness to work,” said Mr. Long.
In addition to receiving certificates, five mini-groups received awards for the projects they worked on and identified as the best during their defenses.
Here are the winning projects:
<ul>
<li>Innovations in the management of general secondary education in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine: development of a pilot project for the community of Volnovakha district, Donetsk region.</li>
<li>Restoration and modernization of railway communication in the Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine (Scythia project).</li>
<li>Improving the process of restoring administrative and social services in the de-occupied territories (on the example of Sviatohirsk city territorial community).</li>
<li>Restoration and integration of medical services in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine.</li>
<li>Access to healthcare services for the population of the Crimean Peninsula and creation of an algorithm for the step-by-step integration of the healthcare system of the Crimean peninsula into the program of medical guarantees of the National Health Service of Ukraine.</li>
<li>Restoration of the judicial system in the liberated territories (on the example of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol).</li>
</ul>
The graduates themselves spoke about the changes that had occurred to them during their studies. For some, project development skills were valuable, for others—risk management or how a leader's personality is formed. But probably for all of them, without exception, the greatest achievement is the circle of like-minded people that was formed during the program. And this was one of the goals of the program—not only to teach the students individually, but also to form teams.
Ihor Stepurin, RMP participant, chairman of the Library Country Charitable Foundation, co-founder of the Summit Book Publishing and Trading Company: “I was asked what I liked and remembered about this program. First of all, the intensity and depth. I calculated that we had more than 100 lectures in 180 days. This is 320 hours. At the recent Forum of First Ladies and Gentlemen, it was constantly emphasized that education is now a priority. Therefore, it seems to me that the project we did together with the team is our mission. And I'm sure that it will become real and we will bring it to life. I also wish everyone to feel the joy of de-occupation, as we, Kherson residents, felt when we came to our hometown after the liberation.”
Oleksii Radchenko, RMP participant, Head of the Department for Control over Local Tax Revenues, Bilohorodka Village Council, Bucha District, Kyiv Region: “I am grateful for the presentation of the material and for the convenience of the learning process, when we could have access to the recording of all the lectures to offset power outages. I believe that this project can serve as a basis for developing more extensive, conceptual developments, as it is very important for the formation of public administration in the de-occupied territories in the context of reintegration. This should be an impetus to create similar platforms and programs to create the necessary number of civil servants, local government officials, and civil society institutions in the de-occupied territories.”

We seek to share the stories of towns and villages that have experienced occupation and conflict and to highlight the ongoing hardships Ukrainians have faced since February 2022. Each day of resistance comes at a significant cost.
The "I'm Fine" installation, featured at the 2024 BURNING MAN festival in the United States, has already gained coverage from major media outlets worldwide. This installation, constructed from damaged road signs, street signs, and fence fragments, serves as a poignant representation of the war's impact. However, showcasing the installation at the festival is just the first step in amplifying Ukraine’s voice globally.
On September 13, during MIM's 35th-anniversary event, Artur Malinowski (former Head of PR at Postmen, Hoshva PR&amp;DGTL, and "PHOENIX" BURNING MAN 2023, and now Head of Global PR &amp; Communication for the "I'm Fine" installation at BURNING MAN 2024) will discuss cultural diplomacy through the lens of the installation. The ideologist and driving force behind this project is Vitaly Deinega, an MBA graduate of MIM Business School.

How I’m Fine Campaign Brings People Together by the Stories

On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Natalia Kalmykova, a current MBA student at MIM, as the Minister of Veterans Affairs.
Before this, she served as the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and previously led the Ukrainian Veterans Fund. Earlier in her career, Natalia was the head of the military department at the Come Back Alive Competent Assistance Foundation, a role she held from June 2017 to January 2021. Following that, she served as a gender adviser to the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from June to November 2021.
We extend our best wishes to Natalia for a successful and impactful tenure in her new role!

This year's Knowledge Day fell on Monday, September 2. On this symbolic day, MIM Business School launched a corporate program for the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety. The center’s activities focus on enhancing the safe operation of nuclear facilities, managing spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, and raising public awareness of nuclear technologies.
At MIM, corporate programs are tailored to meet client needs, addressing specific management challenges. In this instance, the training will emphasize key aspects of management and leadership. The program participants will develop their skills in effective team management and strategic decision-making through the Everest business simulation, developed by Harvard Business School.

UpToDate Business Education Fit for Entrepreneurs

MIM Business School has maintained strong and reliable partnerships with the Board business community since its inception. This relationship is rooted in the fact that Petro Syniehub, the founder of Board, is a graduate of MIM’s Senior Executive MBA program. His graduation project laid the foundation for the creation of the Board community.
Last week, we welcomed Board members to MIM to offer an inside look into the working routine of a modern business school and to address their questions regarding comprehensive business education.
During the visit, we met with Oleksiy Vinogradov, Vice President of MIM Business School and a mentor to the Board community. Our discussions covered the essentials of an MBA program, global standards in business education, and the distinctions between education, training sessions, and seminars

Myroslava Grozinska, Vice President of IIM, introduced the business simulations used in the school's various programs. She highlighted how simulations like Management Game, Markstrat, and Everest enhance skills in strategic decision-making, team management, and crisis response in environments that mimic real market situations. This method helps students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also apply it practically.
Board members also participated in a master class titled "New Roles of Ukrainian Business Leaders," led by Oleksandr Sudarkin, Director of the MBA and Pre-MBA Leadership programs and a mentor to the Board. He emphasized the importance of leaders focusing on their teams’ mental well-being while also taking steps to prevent burnout.
 Additionally, Sudarkin outlined the different roles expressed in leaders' behaviors and positioning:

<li>The “troubleshooter,” characterized by determination, creativity, and a willingness to take responsibility;</li>
<li>The “manager,” who excels in systemic thinking and perseverance;</li>
<li>The “minister,” who listens, supports personal growth, and creates systems and frameworks;</li>
<li>The “pacemaker,” who sets the pace, acts as a role model, and energizes others;</li>
<li>The “preacher,” who excels at inspiring and communicating while giving meaning to actions.</li>
</ul>
 
After the master class, our guests toured the MIM Business School building and connected with us over coffee.
