Iryna Tykhomyrova, President of MIM Business School, discussed the selection process, commencement of training, and the Russian public's response to the launch of the Reintegration Management Program (RMP) on the "603 700 km²" podcast on Public Radio.
Here are the key points from the conversation:
<ul>
<li>The competition for the "pilot" project was competitive, with a ratio of about one to two applicants per spot. One of the program's objectives is to assess its implementation for future iterations. The subsequent program will be more advanced, with potential changes to courses. Training commenced on April 12 and will continue until September 2024. We welcomed participants not only from government service but also from business and the public sector, individuals who envision themselves working in liberated territories. These individuals are poised to revive not only the economic, political, and social aspects but also life in these areas in general.</li>
<li>Our program spans six months and targets adults with higher education and practical experience seeking specialized knowledge for working in liberated territories. Another critical aspect of the program is community building. Throughout the program, participants will undertake project implementation to deepen relationships among themselves and form project teams.</li>
<li>The program was developed in collaboration with the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, led by Tamila Tasheva. This institution initiated the program, and we jointly designed its content, with funding from USAID.</li>
<li>Approximately 80% of applicants are internally displaced persons (IDPs) eager to return home. IDPs, combat veterans, and representatives of indigenous Crimean peoples received additional rating points.</li>
<li>here were poignant moments during interviews, with stories of applicants who had lost their homes twice—first in 2014 and again in 2022. We met wives and mothers of military personnel employed in civil service or education. Volunteers from western Ukraine who frequently journey eastward and individuals with experience living under occupation also applied for the training. The group comprises determined individuals, albeit facing challenges.</li>
<li>Shortly after our program launched on April 12, Russian propaganda media immediately spun the narrative that "Khokhols" (a derogatory term for Ukrainians) were preparing for de-occupation. This sparked discussions in Russia about our efforts to train specialists when they were not. The occupiers' reaction to the program was swift.</li>
