At MIM, learning by doing is paramount. Visits to leading Ukrainian companies complement classroom case discussions and business simulations, providing students with practical insights. As part of the Operations Management course taught by Vitaliy Tsopa, such visits become particularly engaging. On Wednesday, May 29, first-year students of the <a href="https://mim.kyiv.ua/en/programs/se-mba">Senior Executive MBA program</a> toured the Kyiv Innovation Terminal (KIT) of Nova Poshta, which opened in 2018. Here, they witnessed firsthand the journey of a parcel from unloading to sorting, observing the innovative equipment and production processes in action.
The KIT terminal boasts a capacity of 50,000 parcels per hour, with each parcel sorted in under two minutes. Following the tour, participants attended a lecture on lean manufacturing by Bohdan Kovalenko, Director of Operational Efficiency at Nova Poshta and a second-year MBA student at MIM. He outlined the six main strategic goals of Nova Poshta, which focus on customer perception and internal standards:
1.     Fast: Ensuring quick and on-time delivery, minimizing downtime.
2.     Easy: Providing affordable, convenient services and ease of maintenance.
3.     Safe: Achieving zero parcel losses.
4.     Human: Creating dream jobs and cultivating a powerful teams.
5.     Tech: Eliminating losses and enhancing delivery value.
6.     Growth: Continuously developing new products, offices, and expanding into new countries.
Bohdan emphasized the importance of such visits for MIM students: "Any theory should be practically learned. Since MIM students are businesspeople, seeing the processes firsthand is more beneficial than merely hearing about them. These company visits are a crucial part of the Business School's education. At KIT, you can see how we implement Lean Management values in reality".
The visit to Nova Poshta's KIT highlighted that learning and development have no boundaries. "This visit is a unique experience that motivates and opens new opportunities," said Nadiia Suddia, the tour organizer and a second-year MBA student. "Studying advanced business technologies inspires me to generate new ideas and expand my professional horizons. Innovation and perfect processes are what make Nova Poshta a market leader, realizing the future of logistics today."
