The second cohort of the Women Leadership Program graduated at MIM

News of the business school

Last week, MBA students from MIM Business School visited the headquarters of Synevo medical laboratory. The visit was arranged at the invitation of fellow <a href="https://mim.kyiv.ua/programs/mba">МВА</a> student Petro Minchenko - and we were glad to accept, as our students are always open to hands-on experience.
We were welcomed by Mykola Skavronsky, Deputy CEO of Synevo Ukraine and a MIM Business School alumnus across the <a href="https://mim.kyiv.ua/programs/mba">MBA</a>, <a href="https://mim.kyiv.ua/programs_pre-mba">pre-MBA</a>, and DBA (AMIS) programs.
The conversation covered the company's origins, key management decisions, and the factors that hold businesses back in Ukraine.
Mykola shared his personal story - a twenty-year journey from startup to a company of national scale, all without a medical background. Today, Synevo holds roughly 25% of the private laboratory testing market and is the only Ukrainian medical company to have gone through an IPO.
Particular attention was given to the evolution of the business model: from a "lab without a lab" format - collection points only, with outsourced processing - to a strong brand whose name is gradually becoming generic, much like "Xerox" or "Jeep."
Mykola also spoke about the company's operations in the early days of the full-scale invasion and how Synevo adapted to working under wartime conditions. A separate segment covered the company's marketing battles with competitors, strategic brand positioning, and unconventional marketing decisions that help it stand out and capture customer attention.
Following the presentation, business cases, and Q&amp;A, students got to see the heart of the company - Synevo's main Kyiv laboratory. They saw the high-tech equipment firsthand and learned about its configuration and the key operational processes behind it.
During the tour, a scheduled power outage occurred - and we saw with our own eyes how the system performs under pressure: within seconds, the laboratory switched to backup power with no loss of time or quality.

<li>Service speed is a discipline – the company even brought in McDonald's specialists to learn from them.</li>
<li>Communicate in terms your customers understand.</li>
<li>Business openness: tours, educational events, dedicated spaces in "career parks."</li>
<li>If an ad uses the word "quality," it's a sign the marketing team doesn't know the product well enough.</li>
<li>Learn from the best - and not only within your own industry.</li>
<li>Be accessible, not arrogant.</li>
<li>Respect your customers' time and make the experience as smooth as possible.</li>
</ul>
